Experience Our Early Learning Curriculum

Our curriculum stands out by seamlessly integrating 35 research-backed skills into enjoyable games and exploratory projects. We offer tailored lessons, a rich array of resources, and clear learning objectives for children aged 1-5, with age and development-specific groupings.

Moreover, we regularly publish a monthly newsletter to keep families informed about their children's educational journey. Parents can easily access daily lesson plans, learning goals, the class's musical playlist, and diverse assessments through our user-friendly BrightWheel communication portal.

Theme Based Educational Practice

Themes help children construct knowledge and build connections through real experiences and practical application. Themes organize new information around a unified context, which results in a growing web of knowledge.  Each theme creatively integrates colors, shapes, numbers and letters of the month.  Monthly themes invite children to explore new ideas with an interdisciplinary, multi-sensory approach. We use music, art, dramatic play, storytelling, games, books and experiments to ignite imagination and bring the theme to life each month.

Brain Research in Early Childhood Development

Brain and early childhood research provides the groundwork for designing developmentally appropriate and effective experiences for young children. Research in neurobiology, behavioral science and social sciences have helped better understand the relationships, cultures and environments which dynamically influence a child’s development. As a result, each child grows and learns uniquely

Math & Number Sense

Engaging the children in number sense with relevant hands-on opportunities increases children's knowledge and confidence with mathematics and numerics. Counting activities and the building blocks of math, including addition and subtraction, are a part of our program.  We elevate our instruction with interdisciplinary approaches to blend the curriculum in am meaningful and impactful way.

Language Development and Early Literacy

Children learn language naturally through songs, communication, daily circle time, and throughout the routines and flow of the day.  Our literacy awareness program, with our exposure to a wide variety of rich texts and materials, enhances children's enjoyment each day! Our literacy program strengthens children's phonemic awareness and spoken language including their ability to articulate themselves clearly and effectively.

Science Exploration

Science exploration is a natural and critical part of a child's early learning experience. Children are naturally curious about the world around them and their curiosity sparks enthusiasm and wonder for learning. With our instruction and curriculum, we use the their natural curiosity to teach them how to use the beginning skills of inquiry to explore basic phenomena and materials of the world. Science is an interdisciplinary subject and along with research children learn cooperation with peers, project based learning, fine motor skills, language, and mathematical development.

Social Development and Emotional Regulation

We focus on teaching the children how to manage their emotions appropriately and work cooperatively with their peers.  Children thrive when they have a true sense of belonging. They are part of a community here at Over The Rainbow.  Positive social and emotional development in the early years provides a critical foundation for lifelong development and learning. Social development refers to a child’s ability to create and sustain meaningful relationships with adults and other children. Emotional development is a child’s ability to express, recognize, and manage his or her emotions, as well as respond appropriately to others’ emotions. Both social and emotional development are important for young children’s mental health.
